How Flush Frog works

To understand Flush Frog, it helps to forget cleaning products for a minute and look at what a toilet already does after every flush.

One flush, two refill jobs

After you flush a standard gravity toilet, two things need water again:

  1. The tank must refill so the next flush has stored water.
  2. The bowl must return to its normal standing water level.

The fill valve handles both jobs. Most of its water refills the tank. A smaller stream is diverted through the refill tube.

Where the refill tube goes

The refill tube is normally aimed into the top of the overflow pipe. Water entering that pipe travels through the flush-valve passage and into the bowl. That is why you can watch the bowl water rise for a few seconds after the main flush is already over.

The overflow pipe also serves as a safety path if the tank water rises too high. One piece of plumbing, two useful jobs.

Where Flush Frog sits in that path

Flush Frog clips onto the overflow pipe and places the dispenser in the refill-water route. The refill tube sends water through the dispenser; that water then continues down the overflow pipe toward the bowl.

So the product does not need a pump, battery, sensor, or timed valve. It borrows a water stream the toilet already creates after every flush.

Why this is different from putting a tablet in the tank

An in-tank tablet dissolves into the tank reservoir, so tank components remain in treated water between flushes. An overflow-pipe dispenser instead doses the smaller refill stream headed toward the bowl. Those are simply two different delivery architectures.

Some toilet manufacturers caution against certain in-tank chemical cleaners because of compatibility with seals or other parts. The right choice depends on the toilet and cleaner manufacturer instructions. The useful question is not “which slogan sounds better?” It is where does the cleaner sit between flushes?

What happens in the bowl

Once refill water reaches the bowl, the bowl rises toward its normal standing level. That level is controlled by the geometry of the built-in trapway. Extra water beyond the trap’s effective level flows onward into the drain.

This is also why a poorly routed or disconnected refill tube can leave a bowl with unusually low standing water even when the tank itself looks full.

Installation in one picture

  1. Load a compatible 3-inch BCDMH bromine tablet, sold separately.
  2. Clip the dispenser onto the overflow pipe.
  3. Route the refill tube through the dispenser.
  4. Flush once and confirm water flows through the dispenser into the overflow.
