How to shim correctly (when the floor is solid)
Plastic or composite shims are preferred over wood because bathroom moisture swells and rots wood wedges. The goal is to fill the gap so the base bears evenly — not to jack the bowl off the flange.

- Slide thin shims into the gap until motion stops. Use multiple thin shims rather than one aggressive wedge that can crack the base.
